Daniel Ridgway Knight – First Attempt

Should I be embarrassed? Nope, not yet!

So, I started my new Practice regimen yesterday, and the first image I chose to copy is “by the riverside” by Daniel Ridgway Knight.

It was a brutal 30 minutes (lol). Unfortunately time was up when I started to paint the woman in the image. Everything looks very unfinished. But my favorite part so far in my first copy attempt is the mountain range in the background. The grass is so well rendered in Mr. Knight’s painting. The amount of details that he put into the painting is incredible, even on the grass on the floor.

Anyway, here’s my first attempt.

I hope I get farther on my second attempt. I will post it when it’s done. I will use a higher opacity brush to go quicker. Let me know what you think, and which artist did you chose to copy.
